The Hocking College Men’s Basketball Team (7-11) came up short Wednesday evening against Columbus State Community College (10-5), 79-68. The Hawks had won five games in a row at home prior to last night's loss.
Columbus State started out strong and took a 13-0 run in the middle of the first half. This was led by Charles Aden who had a team high of 17 points. The Hawks were able to outscore Columbus State, 26-14, in the final 8:49 of the first half, including two threes by Jose Deleon in the last three minutes, bringing the Hawks to within five at halftime, 42-37.
After the Hawks cut the lead to four early in the second half, Columbus State scored ten in a row in less than four minutes to open a 54-40 advantage over the Hawks. The Cougars were able to outscore the Hawks in the second half 37- 31 and out rebounded Hocking College 38-26.
The game-high scorer for the Hawks was Jarell Giles with 26 points, including 16 points in the first half.Hocking College Men’s Basketball Team will travel to Elyria, OH to face Lorain County Community College on Saturday, January 26 at 3 p.m. The Hawks will then return home on Wednesday, January 30 to play Clark State Community College at 7:30 p.m.
