Hocking College is proud to announce a new partnership with 88 Tactical intended to provide a pathway for those looking to earn an associate degree. The 30-day Tactical Operations Academy is worth 12 credit hours toward Hocking College’s Associate of Individual Studies Degree in Enhanced Police Science.
According to 88 Tactical, the comprehensive training program “covers a wide range of instruction, from firearms and tactics to executive protection and tactical medicine.”
The course is consistent with Hocking College’s ethos of hands-on learning, focusing on real world encounters, not textbooks. The program uses “88 Tactical’s proprietary Behavior-Based Methodology.”
The academy is taught at 88 Tactical’s 160-acre training facility in Tekamah, Nebraska, which features pistol, rifle and precision rifle ranges, cabins, a bunkhouse and a large lodge.
Qualified students can also earn instructor-level certifications in High Threat Close Quarters Battle, High Threat Vehicle Engagements and Tactical Medicine.

The first Tactical Operations Academy will be held March 16 - April 15, 2020.
To attend the first academy, students must register by Feb. 14, 2020.
June 8 - July 3 (four-week academy)
June 8 - June 20 (two-week session)
June 22 - July 3 (two-week session) (Only if already attended weeks one and two.)
Sept. 14 - Oct. 9 (four-week academy)
Sept. 14 - Sept. 26 (two-week session)
Sept. 28 - Oct. 9 (two-week session) (Only if already attended weeks one and two.)
Oct. 26 - Nov. 20 (four-week academy)
Oct. 26 - Nov. 7 (two-week session)
Nov. 9 - Nov. 20 (two-week session) - (Only if already attended weeks one and two.)
Step 1: Apply to Hocking College under the Associate of Individualized Studies program.
Step 2: Submit your portfolio demonstrating law enforcement training and/or military service to request Credit by Advanced Standing for specific courses required for your degree.
Step 3: Complete your Associate of Individualized Studies Plan of Study with your Hocking College Advisor.
Step 4: Register for courses with your Hocking College Advisor.
The total cost of attending the Academy including course fees, meal plan, lodging and tuition is $11,946. Course fees cover required equipment, including firearms, gear and accessories which students get to keep.
If a student would like to complete an associate degree in order to possibly qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill, students must work with Lea Wandling to schedule additional classes. Tuition rates may vary depending on the courses a student chooses to complete their degree.
