The Hocking College Experience

Hocking College vs Erie Community College Preview

Written by Hocking College Contributing Writer | Aug 31, 2019 2:00:00 PM

Your Hocking College Hawks are gearing up to open the 2019-2020 football season this weekend when they travel to Erie Community College. The Hawks look to avenge their 2018 season-opening loss to Erie when the Hawks fell, 44-15. Last year, Hocking was able to keep the game close in the 1st quarter, trailing just 10-7.

Hocking was able to outgain Erie in the passing game, putting up nearly 200 yards of offense through the air, but it was Erie’s running game that put the contest out of reach. Hocking allowed 255 rushing yards, while Erie’s stout defense held Hocking to only 32 yards on the ground. Erie spread the ball around effectively, with no player carrying the ball more than 11 times.

The key for Hocking this weekend will be to establish a balanced attack and limit the damage done by Erie’s ball-carriers. Sophomore quarterback Tony White will be the key for the Hawks’ offense. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 PM on Saturday, Aug. 31.
