Hocking Hawks Cagers Lead the Nation in Points Per Game with 105.7 PPG

Nelsonville, OH -- The Hocking College Hawks’ men’s basketball team has displayed considerable offensive firepower as the Hawks rank #1 in NJCAA Division III in points per game at 105.7. The Hawks also rank 1st in Division III in field goals made per game with 42.7, and 4th in field goal percentage at 52.7%. Hocking ranks #3 in the nation in offensive rebounds, grabbing 20.2 per game, which leads to an abundance of second chance points. This offensive outburst has resulted in a 5-1 record through six games.

Hocking has five players averaging double-digit points per game, led by freshman forward Shawn Paris Jr., who is averaging 18.3 points per game.

Defensively, the Hawks rank #2 in NJCAA Division III in turnovers forced per game, forcing the opposing offense to turn the ball over 25.3 times per game. The Hawks also rank #6 in the nation in steals, forcing 15 per game.  Hocking’s defensive success has been a complete team effort as well, as nine separate Hawks average at least one steal per game. 

Hocking’s next game is Tuesday, November 19, at6 pm at Kent State - Tuscarawas (2-2).
