Scholarships at Hocking College

Scholarships are free money that doesn't need to be paid back. According to thinkimpact.com, 58% of students in 2020 used scholarships to help pay for school. They also estimate that there are 1.7 million dollars in scholarships available to students. But many students aren't sure how to qualify for scholarships, where to find them, or how to apply.

Hocking College Takes the Guesswork Out of Scholarships

At Hocking, students are automatically enrolled in many different scholarships when they apply to the college. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Currently, there are around 50 scholarships available.

District Scholars Scholarship for Local Students

Among the scholarships is the District Scholars Scholarship which is worth $1,000 per academic year and available to those students who graduated from Athens, Fairfield, Hocking, Perry, Pickaway, Ross and Vinton County high schools.

To be eligible for the District Scholars Scholarship students:

  • Need to apply for admissions for the fall or spring semester at Hocking College.
  • Apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA form, and all financial aid requirements.
  • Maintain a minimum of 12 credits in your program and be registered for the first day of the semester.
  • Students must attend the fall or spring semesters within one year after graduating from high school.

This scholarship is available for the duration of a student’s first associate degree, up to four semesters, and as long as the student maintains eligibility. This includes maintaining full-time status by enrolling in 12 credit hours for their program and maintaining a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
