Do you want to advance your career but aren't sure where to go for training? Do you want to make a career change? Hocking College offers Short-term Certificates in several areas to help those who need to advance their skills to promote or those who want a new career.
These credit-bearing certificates are technical and industry-focused to get you trained for a specific career in one year or less and also count towards an associate's degree if a student chooses to pursue one.
Dates: New cohorts start every semester. Location: Hocking College Logan Campus and is in person only. The certificate is a comprehensive, beginner-to-advanced training in welding using a variety of course and AWS certification models that allows trainees to personalize their training. Courses include ARC, MIG, TIG, soldering, brazing, metallurgy fundamentals, structural stick welding, pipe welding and positioning, and high-pressure pipe and piping systems.
Dates: New cohorts start every semester. Location: Fairfield County Workforce Center (4465 Coonpath Rd. NW, Carroll, OH 43112). Participants who complete a Ready-to-Work program may be eligible to earn industry-recognized certifications. After completing a Ready-to-Work program, students may continue relevant coursework to pursue an Associate of Technical Study.

Heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers operate trucks with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) capacity—that is, the combined weight of the vehicle, passengers, and cargo—exceeding 26,000 pounds. These drivers deliver goods over intercity routes, sometimes spanning several states. Hocking College's Commercial Truck Driver Training School offers truck driver training in a variety of course models to fit any timeline. The training program courses vary in intensity and duration and can be utilized by new students, existing students, and corporate sponsors. Tuition includes DOT physical, CDL permit, CDL test, and license fee.

This certificate provides training and experience in operating heavy equipment, and fundamentals of equipment maintenance, and repair. Students learn about various materials used in the industry and the formulas used to calculate the types and amounts needed. Industry terminology is covered so students will learn how to communicate effectively with others in the workplace. The hands-on training emphasizes safety and includes maintenance procedures, pre-start checks, shut down procedures and optical or laser grade checking instruments. These skills help individuals interested in entering the various industries that use heavy equipment to build, maintain and advance communities and infrastructure.

Hocking College offers a multi-course certificate program that prepares students to take the Water Supply or Water Distribution exams approved by the Ohio EPA. Graduates of this program become Drinking Water Supply Operators or Water Distribution Operators and become involved in other aspects of the drinking water supply and distribution.

Hocking College offers a multi-course certificate program that prepares students to take the Wastewater Treatment or Wastewater Collection exams approved by the Ohio EPA. Graduates of this program become Wastewater Treatment Operators or Wastewater Collection Operators and become involved in other aspects of wastewater treatment and collection.

This 4-course certificate program prepares students to take the state of Ohio's Real Estate exam. Graduates of this program become real estate agents, investors, brokers, and realtors, or become involved in property management and other real estate-related fields.

This 3-course certificate program prepares students for the AINS General Insurance Certificate exam. Graduates of this program are prepared for entry-level positions in central Ohio's thriving insurance industry.
Dates: New cohorts starting every semester! Location: Nelsonville Campus and is in person only. This certificate program will allow students to major in either Canine Training or Pet Grooming. The curriculum was designed with a common core of coursework that provides interdisciplinary educational elements critical for student success in canine training or pet grooming.

The Geographic Information and Global Positioning Technology, develop talent in mapping, scientific data collection, computers, and much more. Applications of this technology vary widely and include environmental monitoring, natural resource management, emergency planning, transportation systems design and site analysis.
Dates: New cohorts starting every spring! Location: Nelsonville Campus and is in person only. Students gain a solid foundation in the understanding of human anatomy and physiology. They will be able to demonstrate general office and medical record-keeping skills, utilize functional assessments of the musculoskeletal system, and perform a wide variety of manual therapy techniques. Students will treat a broad array of musculoskeletal conditions, enhancing circulation, pain management, stress reduction, and maintenance of general health and wellbeing.
Dates: New cohorts starting every semester! Location: Nelsonville Campus and is in person only. This certificate prepares students for entry-level employment as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic (Advanced Life Support).
The Hocking College Paramedic Program is accredited by CoAEMSP, through January 31, 2023.

Our students apply direct, hands-on firefighting in our enclosed burn building; develop decision-making skills in life-like emergencies and learn to operate our fire trucks, including our 100-foot bucket truck.
With state-of-the-art firefighting equipment, experienced, certified instructors and hands-on practice, our students consistently achieve a 100% passing rate on the state-certified exam. The state mandate of Firefighter II Certification, for all full-time firefighter employees in Ohio, creates full-time, permanent employment for our Firefighter II students.

Apply direct, hands-on practice in our unique classrooms, including our crime lab, firing range and police cruisers. With experienced, certified instructors and hands-on application, our students consistently achieve passing rates on the state-certified exam.
The Ohio Department of Higher Education sponsors a Short-term Certificate Grant Program for students who are Ohio residents, enrolled in a certificate program completed in one year or less, and meet need-based criteria. The maximum grant amount is $2,000.
According to ohiohighered.org, this grant "will support the ability of the state of Ohio to retain and expand existing businesses, attract new investments and talent, and further entrepreneurship."
