The Natural Resources Law Enforcement Program at Hocking College provides students with the necessary skills to protect people and resources from harm in federal, state, local and privately-held parklands, natural areas, recreational sites and managed resource areas.
The classes for this program are small, very hands-on, and prepare students for entry-level positions in this field. Students take hand-gun safety, map reading and interpretation, NR Criminal Law, NR Law Fitness, dendrology, rappelling, vertical rope rescue, survival techniques, and forensic science as well as others.
Several classes are even held outdoors, in Hocking College's 2,000+ acres of campus land. In addition to class time in the woods on campus, students also gain hands-on skills in land management, visitor safety and more at Lake Snowden, a park owned and operated by Hocking College.
The Natural Resources Law Enforcement program at Hocking College gives students a solid foundation to build upon at any level, whether they decide to work locally, for the state of Ohio or other states, or the federal government. With the recent surge in outdoor tourism across the country, career opportunities in this field are growing and expanding in nearly every state.
There are a variety of careers in this field across the country in many different agencies such as the National Parks Service, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), United States Forest Service (USFS), and United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFW).
