A Hocking College student is collecting donations to benefit both the Fairfield County Dog Shelter and the Fairfield County Humane Society.
Early Childhood Education student, Jewel Seery, is currently in the process of collecting donations in accordance with a service–based project she is required to do for her ED-2216 Family School and Community course.
Seery is requesting that all donations be delivered to Room 301 in Oakley Hall by April 19.
In addition, Seery will get assistance delivering her donations from students from Sheltering Arms Preschool in Lancaster, Ohio. Her goal in getting the students involved is to “teach them about the importance of volunteering, and to show them how the donations and supplies will be used.”

Some of the other supplies both shelters need include postage stamps, printer paper, and batteries.
According to Seery’s instructor, Susan Dietz, the purpose of this project is to illustrate "how service learning allows Hocking (College) Early Childhood Education students to better understand the community that surrounds us."
