Hocking College vs. Georgia Prep Preview

by Hocking College Contributing Writer on September 14, 2019

Join us at Nelsonville-York High School on Saturday, 9/14, at 1:00 p.m. as your Hocking College Hawks host the Georgia Prep Academy Knights for their 2019-2020 season home-opener. Georgia Prep comes into Nelsonville with a record of 2-1 coming off a 35-15 win against Champion Sports Academy. Our Hawks are 1-1 on the year and are looking to open their home schedule with a victory.

Last week, Hocking fell to D-III powerhouse Mount Union’s JV team in a hard-fought 35-20 loss that was much closer than the score might indicate. Hocking started off the season by upsetting Erie Community College, 14-7, and this Saturday is a great opportunity for Hocking to get back in the win column in front of its home crowd.

After accounting for 197 of Hocking’s 290 total yards last week, quarterback Tony White III will be the key to the Hawk’s offensive attack. Hocking will look to wide-receiver Trenton Bridenthal to repeat his production from the last game, where he led the team in both receptions and receiving yards. On defense, Hocking will look to improve their run defense after allowing 216 out of 304 total yards on the ground against Mount Union.

Starting this week, every home football and basketball game at Hocking College will include a half-time promotion where six lucky ticket-holders will have the chance to win $5,000. Ticket numbers will be called at half-time and participants will roll 6 dice with letters on one side. Any participant that is able to roll all 6 letters and spell out WINNER will receive $5,000. Join us on Saturday at Nelsonville-York High School at 1:00 p.m. for the chance to participate.
