Hocking Volleyball Defeated at Edison State

Piqua, Ohio -- The Hocking College volleyball team (0-14) played a tough conference match against Edison State Community College (7-8) on Sept. 28, but ended up losing the match, 3-0. The Chargers and Hawks battled back in forth in the first set before Edison prevailed, 25-21. In the second set, the Hawks fell 25-17. The Chargers pulled away to win the third set, 25-10.

The Hawks were led by sophomore outside hitter Haylie Sheets, who had a team-high 10 kills, a service ace and 10 digs. Freshman hitter Maddison Southworth recorded a team-high 15 digs.  Freshman Mauricea Crouch added a match-high 26 assists.

The Chargers were led by sophomore Sarah Pothast who recorded a match-high 14 kills on 25 attacks.The Hawks were narrowly out-hit in total kill shots, 32-28. Both teams had 27 assists. 

Hocking’s next match is on Saturday, October 5, when the Hawks travel to Cincinnati-Clermont for matches with Johnson College and Clermont.
