Beginning in summer 2018, Hocking College’s Logan Campus will begin offering an advanced welding certification program. This intense 16-week course will provide students with beginner-to-advanced training in welding, along with chances to qualify for some additional certifications.
What Jobs Will This Program Qualify Me For?
After passing one or both of the following welding tests listed below, graduates will be qualified to enter the job market at entry level or higher.
- American Welding Society’s D1.1 Code Test — Students who earn their welding certification and pass this test will be qualified to weld (carbon steel) structural metals/shapes such as angle iron, beams, square tubing and plates.
- American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ Pipe Code Test — Students who earn their welding certification and pass this test will be qualified to weld (carbon steel) pipe.

While many schools have programs that teach students about the science of welding, Hocking College’s new welding program offers students several key advantages. Furthermore, students who decide to enroll in the advanced welding certification program will be able to reap the following benefits:
- Having an instructor who's a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)/Certified Welding Educator (CWE) through the American Welding Society (AWS), and has 30+ years of experience in the welding industry.
- The convenience of studying at Hocking's Logan Campus, which is located 46 miles southeast of Columbus, OH and is accessible by State Route 33.
- A 16-week program that's highly concentrated and comprehensive.
- Students are able to personalize their training.
- Students will be provided with any tools and materials they may need, including a welding jacket, hood, gloves etc.
- A chance to earn American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) certifications.
- A program that focuses on hands-on training.
- Those who receive their welding certification can expect to start earning up to $15 an hour.
