Lady Hawks Fall in Both Matches This Weekend

Nelsonville, OH  -- The Hocking College volleyball team (0-5 Overall; 0-3 OCCAC)  was swept in both conference matchups over the weekend. The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) may be the toughest NJCAA Division ll and Division lll conference, as it produced last year’s National Champion and the 5th place team.

Edison State:  On Friday night, Sept. 6, the Lady Hawks hosted Edison State in a conference matchup. The Hawks fell in three straight sets (25-14,25-13, 25-20) at the Hocking College Student Center. The Lady Hawks were led by Haylie Sheets, who paced the team with 29 attacks. Sierra Delong added 22 attacks and 12 digs. Mauricea Crouch handed out 17 assists. Defensively, Maddison Southworth had a team-high 15 digs.

Clark State: On Saturday morning, Sept. 7, the Hawks returned to their home floor to host Clark State in a conference matchup. The Hawks again fell in three straight sets (25-19, 25-15, 25-17). The Hawks recorded 92 attacks, had 57 digs, and had five players with double-digit attacks  Hocking was led by Haylie Sheets who had 11 kills on 33 attempts and six digs with one service ace. Crouch handed out an impressive 21 assists.
