NELSONVILLE, OHIO—The Hocking College Hawks men's basketball team lost its home opener to the Bryant & Stratton College Bobcats, 88-71, on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021.
The Hawks scored just 23 points in the first half, trailing 39-23 at the intermission. But a 48-point outburst in the second half kept the Hawks in the game. The Hawks' leading scorers were sophomores Ryan Archey Jr. and Landon Sprigler, both with 21 points. Archey tallied 17 of his 21 in the second half. Sprigler notched 12 of his 21 in the second half. Hocking struggled with 15 turnovers but also had nine steals from the Bobcats. The smaller Hawks managed to out-rebound the Bobcats 48-47.
The Bobcats' leading scorer was Alontay Gould, with a game-high 23 points, including six three-pointers from beyond the arc. Deval Harrell added 18 points.
The Hawks' next game is at Clark State Community College. That game is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 7:30 p.m. Both teams return to Hocking College for a home matchup Saturday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. (women) and 3 p.m. (men) against the Terra State Community College Titans.
