Students in Hocking College’s Website & Application Development Program are currently using Figma.
Figma is a web-based design tool that offers real-time collaboration, works in web browsers, and also has native apps that allow the user to work offline.
This tool also has the distinction of being the first interface design tool based in the browser which makes it easier for teams to be able to create software as a group.
Figma, Inc. was created and cofounded by San Francisco native, Dylan Field, in 2012 with the support of the Thiel Fellowship.
Some of the benefits users will have is that they won't have to download any software or install updates since everything is on the cloud. An additional benefit of being on the cloud is that users won’t have to save or organize their files because their work will automatically be saved to a shared space. In addition, users design process will become more inclusive.
Figma has the capabilities and features similar to those of Sketch, Abstract, InVision, Craft, Liveshare, Freehans, Zeplin, and Dropbox. Figma also features drawing tools, prototyping, built-in commenting, multi-player collaboration, and live share capabilities.
To learn more about these features, check out their Beginners Guide to Figma video.
