Edison State Community College (18-4), ranked 19th in NJCAA, D-II, came out hot with a 30-point lead, 42-12, over Hocking College (1-14) before halftime. They opened the second quarter on a 14-1 run over them in a five-minute span. The final score was 88-26.
Edison State was led by Clair Schmitmeyer and Rebekah New who each scored a game-high of 20 points. Schmitmeyer added nine rebounds, seven assists, and five steals. New added eight rebounds. The Chargers shot 40-of–89 (45%) from the field, including 6-of-12 (50%) from the three-throw line.
Hocking College was led by sophomore Shanyce Cabrales who scored a team-high of 11 points, as well as adding two rebounds, an assist, and two steals. Sophomore Shalyn Johnson added seven points with two rebounds, an assist, and two steals.
The next game for the Women's Basketball Team is this Saturday when they play two games at Cuyahoga Community College. The first game tips off at 12PM and the second game, which is a makeup game, is schedule to tip off at 4PM.
