Hocking College Women's Basketball Team Falls to Lorain County Community College

Hocking College Women’s Basketball Team fell 74-63 on Sunday, Dec. 9 to Lorain County Community College. The Hawks fall to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC). The Hawks had two players in double figures with freshmen Madeline Almond and Shanyce Cabrales.

Cabrales led the Hawks with 24 points, 9-of-19 from the field and 2-of-3 from the line. Almond had 14 points, including 7-of-12 from the free throw line. As a team, the Hawks shot 21 of 65 (36.2%) from the field including five three pointers.

Lorain County was led by sophomore Rose Carter who contributed 23 points, including 5-of-9 from behind the three-point line. Freshman Marquita Thompson had 19 points, shooting 7-of-10 from the floor. The Commodores shot 45.2% from the field including 45.5% from beyond the arc.

Both teams recovered 31 rebounds and Hocking had nine steals. Lorain had 12 turnovers compared to seven for Hocking College.

Hocking next game is vs Appalachian Bible College. Tip is set for 5:30pm on Tuesday night at the Hocking College Student Center.
