May 3-7 is In-Demand Jobs Week in Ohio.
Throughout the week, businesses, education providers and community organizations will highlight opportunities for education and employment in Ohio. This statewide collective effort promotes the jobs, industries and skills that are in-demand and helps build Ohio's robust talent pipeline.

An In-Demand Job is one that:

- Has open positions that urgently need to be filled
Currently, Ohio lists more than 200 occupations in its Top Jobs list, available at topjobs.ohio.gov and OhioMeansJobs.com.

Allied Health & Nursing
In-Demand Job: Dental Assistant
Corresponding Major: Students can graduate from Hocking College's Dental Hygiene program with an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene degree in only two years.
In-Demand Job: Nursing Assistant
Corresponding Major: In only four weeks, after successfully completing the STNA curriculum, graduates can obtain their Certificate of Completion issued by the Ohio Department of Health and either go directly to work or further their education to become a licensed practical nurse or a registered nurse.

In-Demand Job: Accountant
Corresponding Major: Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio, has an Accounting & Financial Services degree program. In only four semesters, students can earn their Associate of Applied Business in Accounting & Financial Services degree and either enter this thriving profession or go on to earn their bachelor's degree at a four-year institution!
In-Demand Job: Real Estate Agent
Corresponding Major: Hocking College offers a 4-course certificate program designed to prepare students to take the state of Ohio's real estate exam. Classes are entirely online. Obtaining this certificate can set students on a career path that can lead to jobs as real estate agents, investors, and brokers. Corresponding Major: Hocking College offers a degree program in forest management. In only four semesters, you could have your Associate of Applied Science in Forest Management degree and then begin your career in this exciting industry!
Public Health & Safety
In-Demand Job: Security Guard
Corresponding Major: Hocking College's Ohio Peace Officer Training program can provide students with the skills and experience they need to pursue their passion for law enforcement. Students who enroll in this program can receive their Occupational Certificate in Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy in only four months.
Workforce Development
In-Demand Job: Electrician
Corresponding Major: Hocking College's Construction Management: Commercial and Residential Electricity program is offered exclusively at the Hocking College Sylvania Educational Site in Nelsonville, Ohio. Students who complete this two-year program will graduate with an Associate of Technical Study in Construction Management: Commercial and Residential Electricity degree.
In-Demand Job: Welder
Corresponding Major: Since the summer of 2018, Hocking College's Logan Educational Site has offered an Advanced Welding Certificate program. This intense 16-week course provides students beginner-to-advanced training in welding along with chances to qualify for some additional certifications.
