The Hocking College Men’s Basketball team (8-18) returned to home court on Monday, February 18 to defeat the Bryant and Stratton (OH) Bobcats (2-19), 93-84.
The Hawks took an early 34-20 lead with 16:45 left in the half; however, the Bobcats came back to cut the Hawks' lead to 45-39 at halftime.
The Bobcats came out fast and made it a one-point game at 45-44; however, they were never able to take the lead. Hocking would hit a couple of big three-pointers to extend the lead to 15 at 80-65 on a three-point shot by sophomore guard Jarell Giles with 8 minutes left to play.
Hocking was led by freshman guard Azende Johnson’s double-double, leading the team with 20 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block. Sophomore guard Jose Deleon finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, and two steals. Hocking shot 36-of-75 (48%) with 12 three-pointers. Giles added 16 points to the score board. Sophomore forward Dalane Brown came up big with 14 points and seven rebounds. Freshman forward Tyler Davis rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points. Hocking also out-rebounded the Bobcats 37-33.
Sophomore forward LaQuan Taylor and freshman guard Tyree Harris led Bryant & Stratton with a game-high of 21 points each. Taylor added seven rebounds and a block. Harris finished the game with eight rebounds and an assist.
The Men's Basketball Team's next game is tonight (2/20) as they face Columbus State. They'll return home to play their last game of the season against Bryant & Stratton (OH) on Saturday, February 23 at 3PM in the Hocking College Student Center.
