Those students who want to pursue getting a degree in Healthcare Informatics at Hocking College can get a head start on their classes this summer.

Starting June 10, the class HIM-1112 (Legal Aspects) will be offered online in addition to other general education curriculum courses students will need to complete their degree.

However, it won't be until the Fall 2019 semester in which the entire curriculum for this program will be offered online.

Students who enroll in Hocking College’s Healthcare Informatics Program will learn several skills. They'll need to learn how to use classification software, protect the confidentiality of each patient, electronically record data, utilize patient information to predict future vaccination dates, organize & retrieve data, review records for timeliness and accuracy, and assign clinical codes for insurance reimbursement.

Students who decide to enroll in Hocking College’s program will make themselves available to the professional partnerships Hocking College has with Fairfield Medical Center, Holzer Health Systems, and Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. From these partnerships, students will gain the hands-on training they need to succeed in this field.

Graduates of the program will leave feeling prepared to take the Commission on Accreditation for Certified Associate in Health Information Systems (CAHIIM) certification exam.
