The Hocking College Women’s Basketball Team (1-11) fell to Columbus State Community College (5-10), 110-41, in an Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) game on Wednesday evening.
The Cougars opened with an early 34-5 lead and went into halftime with a 75-26 lead. Eleven Columbus State players scored, and six players had double figures. Whitney Staggs led the Cougars with a game-high of 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals. As a team, Columbus State shot 47-of-101 (46.5%) from the field, and 10-of-19 from the free-throw line (52.6%). The Cougars out rebounded Hocking College 46-to-21, including 24 offensive rebounds.
The Hawks were led by Shalyn Johnson who scored a team-high of 14 points, as well as having two rebounds and three assists. Shianne Nameth also assisted the team with seven rebounds.
The Hocking College Women's Basketball Team will travel to Lorain County Community College on Saturday, January 26 for a 1 o'clock game. Their next home game will be on Wednesday, January 30 against Clark State Community College at 5:30 p.m.
