Art Reception: Borrowed Spaces
March 1 • 4-6PM

Hocking College John Light Hall Art Gallery (3301 Hocking Parkway — Nelsonville, OH)
Artist Danielle Winger will install work from her Borrowed Spaces painting series from March 1 to March 30 at Hocking College's Art Gallery located on the second floor of John Light Hall. Winger uses the distance that memory gives her to revisit childhood vacations and homes as an outsider searching for connection. A reception will also be held at the gallery during this time.

Disney's Beauty & The Beast

The Academy Award-winning film, Beauty & The Beast, comes to life in this romantic and beloved take on the classic fairytale. Directed by Chris Parsons with music direction by Devin Sudman. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students.

Cooking Class: A Taste of Bourbon Street
March 2 • 3-6PM
The Lodge at Hocking College (15770 OH-691 — Nelsonville, OH)
Take a food tour down Bourbon Street with this Mardi Gras-inspired cooking class. Our chef instructor will take you through the creation of fantastic Mardi Gras recipes including fried oysters, seafood & sausage gumbo, jambalaya, beignets, and banana fosters. Cost is $75 per participant & class size is limited to 16 people. (Note: Class must have a minimum of 10 participants to run.) 

Winter Bird Count
March 9 & 23 • 9AM — 2PM
Hocking Woods Nature Center (3301 Hocking Parkway  Nelsonville, OH)

Join the Hocking Woods Nature Center at their yearly winter bird count. Spend a peaceful & educational Saturday learning and watching native birds from their bird viewing station at the nature center. Bring binoculars, cameras, and field guides if you have them. This event is free and birding experience is not required. Please bring a dish to share for lunch, as it will be provided for anyone who joins.

Cooking Class: St. Patty's Day Dishes
March 16 • 3-6PM
The Lodge at Hocking College (15770 OH-691 — Nelsonville, OH)
Come celebrate the Irish holiday by baking some of their notorious dishes. Participants will cook 
small meat-filled pies, potato and cheese rolls, roast leg of lamb seasoned with rosemary and garlic, creamed peas over new potatoes, and Guinness apple crumble. Cost is $75 per person and is limited to 16 participants. (Note: Class must have a minimum of 8 participants to run.) 

Columbus Symphony Orchestra
March 17 • 4PM

Stuart's Opera House (52 Public Square — Nelsonville, OH)
For the first time ever, the Columbus Symphony will perform on Stuart’s stage right here in Nelsonvile, OH. This performance will be conducted by the acclaimed Music Director of the Columbus Symphony, Rossen Milanov, and will feature an orchestra of 42 including strings, flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, horns, trumpets, and timpani. The program will be a combination of light classics and pops, and will include works from Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Strauss, and Copland. Tickets cost between $22.50 – $27.50.

Lunch & Learn: Presented by Ohio University Credit Union

Ohio University Credit Union is hosting a free lunch and learn to better your financial future. All students, alumni, and the Nelsonville community are welcome to attend this lunch to learn tips to help prepare them for their financial future. 19th Annual Souper Bowl

Athens Community Center (701 E. State Street — Athens, OH)
Head to the 19th Annual Souper Bowl to support a great community non-profit. Participants will get a beautiful handmade bowl, can indulge in all-you-can-eat soup, enjoy entertainment, and have access to a great raffle and silent auction. Come help us keep conflict resolution alive in Athens County. Cost to attend is $25 and proceeds go to the Athens Area Mediation Service.

Art Reception: Student Show

Starbrick Gallery (21 W. Columbus Street — Nelsonville, OH)
Nelsonville’s Starbrick Gallery will showcase student work from March 29 to April 21 with a Final Friday Gallery Walk Reception on March 29. Come out to the gallery to enjoy multi-media pieces from the hardworking art students at Hocking College. Glass, Ceramics, Painting, and Photography will be on display.

Introduction to Wildlife Rehabilitation Workshop
March 31 • 8AM — 5PM
Hocking College Natural Resources Building; Room 112 (3301 Hocking Parkway — Nelsonville, OH)
The Wildlife Society invites you to come learn from rehabber, Kristen Beck, on how to rehabilitate wild animals and leave with your category I permit, which will allow you to begin rehabilitating wildlife at your home. Cost is $40 for members of the Ohio Wildlife Rehabilitators Association (OWRA) and $55 for non-members. Cost includes lunch, a 3-ring binder full of all the information you'll need to start rehabbing, and your category I permit.

Maple Tapping Festival & Pancake Breakfast

Alley Park (2805 Old Logan Road SE — Lancaster, OH)
The Maple Tapping Festival and Pancake Breakfast will be held at Alley Park. Come enjoy the benefits of maple and tapping for its delicious sap at the annual festival. Admission to the festival is free but there is a fee of $5 per person for the pancake breakfast.

Mushroom Production for Home Growers
March 12 • 6PM — 9PM
Keller Market House (134 S. Columbus Street — Lancaster, OH)
Janell Baran of Blue Owl Hollow Tree Farm will demonstrate a straight-forward log inoculation technique suitable for small-scale production of several different culinary mushrooms. Not all mushrooms can be cultivated this way but shiitake, oyster, and lion's mane are examples of choice edibles. Log harvesting, site selection, care of inoculated logs, and various mushroom cultivation resources will also be discussed. Cost to attend is $30. 

Stone Fence Hill Hike
March 16 • 10AM — 1PM
Clear Creek Metro Park (185 Clear Creek Road — Rockbridge, OH)
Take a rugged 4-mile backcountry hike to Stone Fence Hill. Enjoy views of black hand sandstone and hemlock trees along the way. Those interested in participating should meet at the park office.

Avant-Garde Art & Craft Shows
March 2 • 10AM — 4PM
Makoy Event Center (5462 Center Street — Hilliard, OH)
This large show will feature artists and crafters selling their original handmade items at a beautiful venue, which will also have a full concessions stand on site. Admission is $3 to the public, and children ages 12 & under are free. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local non-profit, Hope Hollow.

All American Columbus Pet Expo

Ohio Expo Center - Bricker Multi-Purpose Building (717 E. 17th Avenue — Columbus, OH)
Head to the All American Columbus Pet Expo, which will include a petting zoo, llama exhibit, a Weiner race, and ferret races. In addition, the International Cat Association (TICA) sanctioned an 'All About Cats Expo' with 250 pure breed cats competing in 9 judging rings.

Columbus International Automobile Show

Each year the Columbus International Auto Show rolls into town with displays of the latest and greatest models and automotive technologies. See all your favorite sports cars, sedans, SUVs, and minivans, go for a test drive or two, and take a walk down memory lane with the classics. Tickets to attend cost $12 for adults (10+), $6 for students with valid ID, $8 for seniors (65+), and free for children ages 9 & under.

Dublin St. Patrick's Day Parade

Historic Dublin (S. High S.— Dublin, OH)
City of Dublin's St. Patrick's Day Parade is a regional parade that appeals to Dublin residents, as well as visitors from throughout Ohio. The day starts with the Lion's Club Pancake Breakfast and continues with the parade starting off at approximately 11AM. Afterwards, guests can frequent Dublin establishments where Irish entertainment and specials are featured. Marching bands, clowns, floats, and giant balloons will all be featured in the parade which will take place in front of an estimated crowd of 20,000.

Introduction to Welding - MIG

Hocking College Welding Lab (30140 Iles Road — Logan, OH)
The Hocking College Welding Lab is offering a 4-hour Welding 'MIG' class for the hobbyist or artist who wants to learn how to weld as a craft or occupation. This class will introduce the student to 'MIG', GMAW welding. During this class, students will learn how to safely set up and start the welding machine, choose the correct gas, wire, voltage, and wire speed for the application. Students will also have the opportunity to learn techniques on a Lincoln Electric virtual welding simulation machine. Each student will have the opportunity to complete two small project pieces to take home with them. Participants must be 18 years or older. (NOTE: Class size is limited to 15 and must have a minimum of 8 to run.)

The 13th Annual Colony Short Film Festival is a showcase for independent films from all over the U.S. and across the globe, with a focus on featuring local and regional talent from the Ohio Valley.
