Not many people start their journey in theatre by sweeping, but for me, sweeping up the tiny black box theatre in the little town of Urbana in Ohio’s Champaign County was something that inspired a life-long love of the arts.

For us, fireworks! While there are several firework displays happening this month, there's also a lot of other events taking place as well.
Beginning in Fall 2019, Hocking College will launch its eSports team. The sport will involve competitive, team-based video gaming, as well as tournaments and intercollegiate play which will be done through the National Association of Collegiate eSports (NACE) and TESPA.
You may start seeing a lot of rainbow decorations popping up this month and yes, there’s a reason for it. June is Pride Month which celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, as well as the history of the gay rights movements.
It's finally June and schools are out for the summer. So, what should one do with all that time off?
Last month three representatives from The Davey Tree Expert Company visited Hocking College to make a donation to the school’s Forestry Club.
Mark Noark (Sales Arborist), Kris Bruestle (District Manager), and Jeff Crites (Operations Manager) presented to the Forestry Club Secretary, Chelsie Kotlar, with a check for $2,000.
The funds were used to help pay for the expenses of the club’s western forests trip which took place from May 3-19.
The presentation took place in room #213 of the Natural Resources building on the Hocking College campus. Also in attendance were members of the Forestry Club and their faculty advisor, James Downs.
Davey Tree’s donation marks the third time this company has helped fund a trip made by Hocking College's Forestry Club.
The Hocking College Hawks Men's Basketball Team is looking forward to another exciting season with a roster full of fresh faces. With recruiting in full swing, 14 players have now committed to Hocking College for the 2019-2020 season and more are expected to sign in the coming months.
