Caden Cox is Kicking Down Barriers

When you think of football, what comes to mind? Do you think of the athletes and the physicality needed to play the game? Or do you think about the hard work and determination teams put into training for a season? You probably wouldn't think about a person with Down Syndrome playing football, scoring points for their team, and in the process, making history. But that is exactly what Hocking College football player, Caden Cox did.

Caden Cox is a freshman at Hocking College, pursuing an Associate of Technical Study degree with a focus on Canine Programs and Performing Arts. He is a kicker on the Hocking College Hawks Football team, a member of the Theater club, and a student employee on campus.

Hawks' Football Concludes Spring Season Among the Nation's Best

It was an abbreviated spring season, as anticipated, due to COVID-19 protocols around the country, but the Hocking College Hawks completed a three-game spring season with a record of 2-1 and statistically displayed the nation’s best defense. In fact, the Hawks currently rank first in the NJCAA allowing just 85.7 yards per game. The defense was tops in rushing defense (41.4 ypg) and passing defense (44.3 ypg).

Nelsonville, OH — The Hocking College football team entered the 2019 season looking to compete with the top teams in the NJCAA and improve on a disappointing one-win season in 2018. The Hawks improved their record to 3-6, but struggled against the nations top teams like Lackawanna (ranked #2), Georgia Military College and Monroe College.

Nelsonville, OH — The Hocking College football team ended its 2019 season with a loss to #17 Monroe College Mustangs, 63-0. The Hawks finished the year with a record of 3-6.

Hocking Hawks Blanked at Nassau CC, 48-0

Garden City, NY --  Nassau CC (6-3) defeated Hocking College (3-5) by a score of 48-0 in the final road game of the season on Nov. 3, in Garden City, NY. The Hawks were limited to minus-24 yards of total offense with 93 yards passing but minus-117 yards on the ground. Four lost fumbles contributed to the rushing yardage and the loss.
