The Hocking College Experience

The roots of accounting can be traced to somewhere between 3,300 to 2,000 BC when the ancient Mesopotamians first recorded their tax records on clay tablets. Then during the Medieval Period, merchants began to implement bookkeeping techniques into their business dealings. This profession continued to evolve thanks to Luca Pacioli (AKA "the father of accounting") of Italy. Due to his efforts, business owners were introduced to the concepts of using journals, ledgers, and balance sheets.

The funds provide the necessary aid to students who are in need, allowing them to focus on their studies and the hands-on clinical experience they would not otherwise have access to. In addition to the scholarship fund, the emergency fund portion offers assistance through gas and grocery store gift cards, pays for student's books, and necessary physicals, immunizations and supplies, as well as fees for their national accreditation testing. Due to this scholarship, it makes a college education an attainable goal for those who might not otherwise have the opportunity.

Beginning in Fall 2018, students will be able to take part in Hocking College’s new welding certification program at Hocking College’s Logan Educational Site. Aside from learning valuable skills that will help them break into this lucrative industry, students will be able to enjoy the benefits of working in a state-of-the-art Lincoln Welding Lab.
