Farrier Science Launches New Entrepreneurial Venture at Hocking College

Hocking College offers over 50 hands-on programs, and was named the nation’s first Higher Ed Entrepreneurial School in 2019 by the National Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education. Within the academic programs offered are many opportunities for immersive learning experiences where students can experience life on the job, including specific entrepreneurial ventures that coincide with the programs. These employment opportunities coincide with course work, giving students real-world work experience while in school; learning and building a resume simultaneously.

Students Connect with Equine Professionals at the American Collegiate Horsemen’s Association National Convention

The Hocking College Collegiate Horsemen's Association (CHA) took 13 students to attend the American Collegiate Horsemen's Association (ACHA) National Convention in Ocala, Florida, from April 6 - April 9.

Hocking College Equestrian Team Finishes Shortened Season

The Hocking College equestrian team competed in their only show of the season last weekend at the Reality Dreams show at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds in Lancaster. Even though it was a cold and rainy day, the team had a blast! The 2020/2021 Equestrian team is Marcus Perko, Nina Goldsmith, Emma Smith, Courtney Easton, Rachael Jungling and Alex Spondike.

Hocking College breaks ground on $2 mil. equine arena

NELSONVILLE, Ohio Hocking College broke ground on a new approximately $2 million equine arena Thursday evening, Feb. 20, 2020.


The 30,000 square foot building will be built on the school’s Nelsonville campus in what is now an overflow parking lot.


Site work will begin immediately, and construction of the building itself is expected to finish by the end of the year.


Planning for the building began last year, and Hocking College Chief of Staff Jeff Daubenmire said when people drive into campus, the massive structure will be the first thing they see.

Program Manager Wins Championship Title at National Thoroughbred Show

Hocking College's Equine Program Manager, Bethany Siehr, recently competed and placed in the third annual Thoroughbred Incentive Program National Championship.

Overall, some 500 thoroughbreds competed in a total of 26 divisions comprising English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Dressage, Western Dressage, Hunters, and Jumpers.
